What changes to Centrepay mean for your payment arrangement
Published on 19 Jan 2026
Centrepay is a voluntary bill paying service which is free for Centrelink customers.
Services Australia made changes to how Centrepay works in November 2025. Visit the Services Australia website to find out about the changes and what it means for you.
You can still use Centrepay to pay your infringement fines and court fines through a payment arrangement with Fines Victoria.
No changes are being made to payment arrangements set up with us before 2 February 2026 with Centrepay as the payment method.
If you want to set up a payment arrangement using Centrepay from 2 February 2026, we need your verbal consent before we can set it up. This is because there are certain rules that must be followed when using Centrepay to pay your instalments.
The quickest and easiest way to set up a payment arrangement using Centrepay is by calling us.
You should also call us if you want to add a new fine to an existing payment arrangement set up using Centrepay, even if it was set up before 2 February 2026.
What to do if you submitted an online or paper payment arrangement application
If you submitted an online or paper application on or after 2 February 2026 and asked to pay your instalments using Centrepay, you should call us as soon as possible.
We can’t set up your payment arrangement using Centrepay as the payment method until we talk to you.
Once we talk to you and get all the information we need, we can update the payment method to Centrepay.
