Having a valid toll account or pass stops you from getting a fine

Toll roads are roads that you have to a pay a fee to travel on. In Victoria, there are 3 toll roads – EastLink, CityLink and the West Gate Tunnel.
To use a toll road, you must have a valid account or pass.
If you travel on a toll road without a valid account or pass, a toll notice is sent by either ConnectEast or Linkt, which are the companies that manage the toll roads.
The toll notice is sent to the address recorded with VicRoads for the registered owner of the vehicle. The notice will tell you how much you owe which includes the toll cost and an administration fee.
You should deal with the notice by the due date. If you don’t an overdue notice will be sent by the toll company, and another fee is added to the amount you owe.
If you don’t deal with the toll notice or overdue notice, a fine can be issued by Victoria Police. If this happens, the amount you owe becomes much higher.
You can avoid getting a fine by making sure you have a valid account or pass when using any of the toll roads.
