Be aware of potential scams

Fines are only issued on-the-spot by an issuing officer, attached to your vehicle, or sent by post. If you have an active payment arrangement, Fines Victoria will contact you by SMS to advise you have received a new fine. We will not contact you via SMS to tell you if a fine has been withdrawn or that you have been issued a refund, we will send you a letter by post. We may call or SMS you to follow up on your outstanding fines.

Fines Victoria has begun issuing Notices of Final Demand for fines registered with us by the Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) for failure to vote in the Victorian State Government election in November 2022.

Unpaid fines can affect your driver licence and vehicle registration

The Director, Fines Victoria has the power under section 89 of the Fines Reform Act 2014 to apply sanctions on a driver licence or permit and/or vehicle registration(s), to encourage you to resolve your outstanding fine(s). A sanction may include suspension of your driver licence and/or vehicle registration or restrict your ability to transfer your vehicle or renew your driver licence.
